I leave in 5 days for staging in Philadelphia and next Wednesday I will be on a plane flying to Uganda. I have spent the last 2 weeks getting things together and packing and repacking my luggage. With 2 checked bags and 79.9 lbs (80lbs are allowed!!) I am feeling ready and anxious to go.
Packing for an extended period of time is an interesting task as it makes you question what exactly you need to live. Some items in my luggage include a solar-powered battery charger, duct tape, bungee chords, 3 skirts, 4 pairs of shoes, and a headlamp. Did I pack the right things? Since I don't know exactly where I will be, how I will be living or what I will be doing, I can only hope. If not, I'm sure I will survive nonetheless.
Below is all the luggage I am taking... two to check-in and two to carry-on. I think I can carry all of it myself, which is a good thing.
For those wondering about Uganda, here are a few websites to look at regarding the country.
Peace Corps. Uganda
Wikipedia, Uganda
CIA, The World Factbook, Uganda
Uganda, tourist site
